For the rollout of the next generation of Alexa devices, Amazon sought to create a library of interactive icons that would appear when you corresponded with Alexa. Below are some of the icons I had the pleasure of designing or animating. The trick with these was that they all had to be lottie optimized, and work as a loop that resolved into the blue Voice Chrome. This was such a fun task as an animator, taking me back to the basics of After Effects with good ol’ shape layer animation.
In addition to animating the icons above, I was also able to participate in the design phase of some of the icons! Below are some versions and iterations of various icons. The design challenge here was to include a loop where possible, which is characteristic of the Alexicon look.
